Next In Line formed in 2008 and the band immediately began writing original blues material. The two main songwriters in the band, Barbara Laing and Bernie Reilly, continue to write folk and delta inspired blues tunes. A CD, “Banned From The Bar,” penned and written in 2009 comprises some danceable as well as mellow songs for your listening pleasure. We also play great blues covers!

Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras Party a Huge Success
The March 4th BBS Annual Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras Party at The Sapphire Room in the Riverside Hotel was a SMASHING success! This is our major fundraiser for the “Blues in the Schools” program. Kicking things off at 6pm was Jake Leg. Before their set was over, the event venue was almost filled to capacity. Blues lovers were lined up to get in and claim the last seats. We certainly had not expected this and Sapphire Room employee Angel did a commendable job in managing the line for the duration.
Next up was Mississippi Marshall accompanied by BBS board member, ‘Harmonica’ Dave Light, who knocked out some tasty traditional acoustic blues. Third on the bill was The Hoochie Coochie Men – now in their 21st year on the Boise Blues scene – and they rocked the house. Wrapping things up was JT and Smooth Avenue with some get down funky soul-blues.
The attendees were very generous in their voluntary contributions to the “Blues in the Schools” program, and special thanks to Mrs. Green for passing the hat throughout the audience. Eleven (11) new members signed up and with merchandise sales figured in, it was our MOST SUCCESSFUL Fat Tuesday ever! THANKS to all who showed up and to the wonderful Riverside Hotel staff.
