Every Wednesday, The Blind Mice (formerly For Blind Mice) host an open blues and rock jam at Tom Grainey’s, 8pm-?. FaceBook page: facebook.com/theblindmiceband

May 1 – Smooth Avenue plays funky blues, Motown, and light rock dance music at Crush Wine Bar in Eagle, 8-11pm. FaceBook page: facebook.com/smooth.avenue

5/2 at the Crescent Brewery in Nampa. 7:30-10ish. The historic Crescent Brewery is a purveyor of fine craft beers and house rockin’ blues!

6/20 at the “Wing Off” hot wings competition at the fabulous Meridian Village Noonish.

Friday May 8, Ken Harris and Rico Weisman, Berryhill restaurant, 6-10pm

Saturday May 9 from 11am to 3pm, Smooth Avenue provides the entertainment at the Momz Garage Mother’s Day Car Show in Star, Idaho. Car Show usually has about 100 classic cars with attendee voting for their favorite cars. JT will have the 48 Frazer on display. Signs and balloons will be posted as you enter Star from Boise on Hwy44.

Sundays May 10 (bring your mom!) and June 14, BBS hosts our open Blues Jam Session from 3-6pm at The Drink Waterfront Bar & Grill. This blues-only jam happens every second Sunday of the month. Musicians are invited to bring an instrument and join us on stage. Blues lovers, come and catch local musicians while enjoying food, drinks, a great view, and a community atmosphere. Thursday May 28, an evening with Mississippi Marshall at the Sapphire Room. Marshall, who developed his own unique delta thumbing style on guitar, returns to Boise fresh from recording his second studio album. Saturday, June 13, Hoochie Coochie Men, a 5-piece ensemble formed in 1993 as the house band for Boise’s legendary Blues Bouquet, will get you hoppin’ at Sockeye #2, Fairview and Cloverdale.

Monday nights 5-10pm is the “Blues Block” on RadioBoise, KRBX, 89.9 & 93.5 fm and streaming online at www.radioboise.org. Norman Davis hosts the Juke Joint from 5-7:30, then “Mojo” Mike follows with the Blues Revue from 7:30-10.

Listen for blues on KBSU-FM (91.5 fm and streaming live at boisestatepublicradio.org):
– Long-time DJ Arthur Balinger hosts “Blues Deluxe” Monday nights from 10pm – 1am.
– KBSU runs the (independently syndicated) “Blues Before Sunrise” Saturday 11pm – 4am.

Boise Blues Society is proud to bring you the Boise Blues Festival on Sunday July 19, noon- 6pm at Julia Davis park. This year will feature performances by Matthew Curry, Jimmy Lloyd Rea, and local bands Hoochie Coochie Men and Freudian Slip. We hope to add vendors this year too; please drop us a note if you have any suggestions.
