Live Blues in August and September

Check out all these live blues shows in the Boise area!

Saturday August 1, The Blind Mice play Americana/blues/rock 9pm-midnight at O’Michael’s.

Sunday August 2, savor local wine with a view of rolling vineyards while the Moss Roses sing upbeat blues numbers, a few soul tunes, and a few silly ones as well. Live music and wine tasting 4-7pm at Sawtooth Winery.

Monday August 3, Ken and Carmel bring you blues, swing, and classic hits at the Sandbar, 5-8pm.

Wednesday August 5, Ken and Carmel rock Sofia’s Greek Bistro, Glenwood and State, 6-9pm.

Friday August 7, Smooth Avenue plays funky blues, Motown, and light rock dance music 8-11pm at Crush wine bar in Eagle.

Sunday August 9, 1pm, catch the Blues Addicts at St. Chapelle Winery in Caldwell.

Sundays August 9 and September 13, the Boise Blues Society hosts an open Blues Jam Session from 3-6pm at The Drink Waterfront Bar & Grill. This blues-only jam happens every second Sunday of the month. Musicians are invited to bring an instrument and join us on stage. Tuesday August 11, local band the Blues Addicts will open for Robert Cray, 7pm at the Egyptian Theater.

Thursday August 13, Josh Hoyer and the Shadowboxers return to Boise for an evening at the Sandbar, 6-9pm. Soulful vocals, funky blues rhythms, and a stellar horn section will cure what ails ya.

Friday August 14, don’t miss the Blues on the Banks festival featuring Jake Leg, BBS Blues Directors, and Zach Quintana Band. 6-10:30pm at Stewart’s Bar and Grill, 2895 Blaine St., Caldwell. $5 advance tickets available at Printcraft, 2614 Cleveland Blvd, Caldwell; Canyon West Guitars, 1224 1st St. So. #202, Nampa; or Shear Madness, 7007 W. Fariview, Boise. $10 at the door. Proceeds to benefit Boise Blues Society’s “Blues in the Schools” program.

August 14-16, experience three days of live blues music on the Greenbelt during the Sandbar’s first Blues on the Belt extravaganza! The schedule includes :

Monday August 17, the boys are back in town! Mississippi Marshall and the Juke Daddys return to the Sapphire Room for an evening of “sho nuff get yo Monday blues on” boogie woogie. Jody Smith and Dayle May both will be back for this so get your tickets early. Radio Boise 89.9 FM will be broadcasting live on the Blues Block, and the show will be recorded for a “Juke Daddys LIVE @ The Sapphire Room” CD.

Thursday August 20, Ken Harris and Rico Weisman at Bella Aquila in Eagle from 6-8 pm.

Friday August 21, Hoochie Coochie Men, 8pm at Sockeye Grill at Cole & Ustick

Monday August 24, the Moss Roses perform upbeat blues, favorites, and originial tunes from 6-9pm at the Sandbar.

Thursday August 27, 6pm, get a dose of blues in the great outdoors with the Blues Addicts at Idaho Botanical Garden. Tickets:

Friday September 4, enjoy upbeat blues, favorites, and originial tunes by the Moss Roses at Bar365.

Tuesday September 8, Grammy nominee and award-winning blues artist Eric Bibb comes to the Sapphire Room for an all-ages show. Bibb’s fingerpicking guitar combines with rich vocals to lay down roots/folk blues in a contemporary style that has been described as “discreetly awesome” and “a total original.”  Doors open at 6:30pm, show at 7:30pm. Friday September 18, come out for lunch at the Sandbar with the Moss Roses. Enjoy upbeat blues, favorites, and originial tunes from 11am-1pm.

Saturday September 19, get your hippie on at the 2015 Hyde Park Street Fair, and check out the Blues Addicts at the Sun Ray Café in Hyde Park, 7-10PM.

Saturday September 26, mark your calendars for the 2nd annual Blues at the Flats festival, an evening of live blues, dancing, brews, and barbecue at Crooked Flats in Eagle. Lineup features 5 local bands including the Blind Mice and the BBS Blues Directors.
