2016 Touring Artists Season Opener

Smooth Avenue

The great Mississippi-born blues/soul singer Johnny Rawls opens our highly anticipated live concerts series for 2016. We bring the living legend Rawls to Playhouse Boise on March 24! His backing band for this very special evening will be Boise’s own popular Smooth Avenue! All in all, it promises to be an excellent show! Mark the date down, you won’t want to miss it!

Johnny Rawls sings and plays the blues throughout the land at well over 200 shows a year, and has played the Chicago Blues Festival and Portland’s Waterfront Blues Festival, among many others. He’s the winner J-Rawls6of “Most Outstanding Blues Singer 2013” and “Best Soul Blues Album” (for ‘Red Cadillac’) in the 21st Annual Living Blues Awards Critics’ Poll.

These media quotes about Rawls will let you know what you’re in for here on March 24:

“Johnny Rawls has blossomed into one of the top talents in soul blues today.” TOstudent.com

“If you had to sum up Johnny and his music in one word, it would be smooth.  Everything he does, from singing, playing guitar, writing songs, and interacting with his fans reflects the polish and considerable talent he has developed over the years.”  Blues on Stage

“Blues fans are advised to check Johnny Rawls out…you’ll be glad you did.” Fort Worth Star-Telegram
