Johnny Rawls Returns For A St. Patrick’s Day Party!

We’re very excited to have Johnny Rawls coming back to Boise!
The show will be at the Playhouse, 8001 W. Fairview on St. Patrick’s Day (March 17) AND Johnny is enjoying great success with a new album just recently released, called Waiting For the Train!  And thats not all. Johnny has been nominated for the Blues Foundation’s Blues Music Awards for 2018 in both Soul Blues Male Artist and Soul Blues Album categories. Waiting For the Train, shot straight to #1 on soul blues charts upon release last September. This blues legend has been our guest before and was a featured performer at the Blues Festival last summer. He has developed a real fan base so get your tickets early! One of Boise’s favorites groups, Smooth Avenue, will once again take the stage to back Rawls for this show so you know The Playhouse will be rockin’ and the dance floor will be full right to the very last song.

BBS Music Scholarship Filing Deadline May 1st

The Boise Blues Society (BBS) is once again accepting scholarship applications.  The BBS has awarded a number of scholarships over the past several years to deserving young blues musicians.  The money awarded can be used by the recipient for any expense related to their development as a musician.  The application deadline for this year is May 1. 
An important part of the application process is performing at the BBS jam.  The next jam is at Playhouse Boise on Sunday, March 11, from 3-6 pm.  The application can be downloaded here:
Applications will be reviewed during the month of May and awards will be made at the June BBS jam.
