Blues on the Banks 2018, Caldwell, August 3-4

This year’s 21st annual Blues on the Banks comes to Caldwell, Friday and Saturday, August 3-4. It promises to be another great blues weekend headlined by a talented long-time touring blues icon. This year’s headliner is Scott Ellison, talented singer-songwriter, guitarist, and blues-rocker from Tulsa. Ellison is a veteran of more than 40 years playing the blues professionally, still going strong with some 200 shows a year throughout North America.

The event will feature 2 nights of entertainment again this year. Popular local blues band, Jake Leg, will open Saturday’s show at 6:30pm, and Ellison will headline immediately after. Jake Leg will also play Friday night, Aug 3, 8-10pm. Another local blues band, Deborah Michels Gang, will open Friday night, 7-8pm. Both are all ages shows. 12 and under free. Over 12 will need a ticket. Doors open one hour before show time each night.

GET YOUR TIX NOW!!

The best deal is to purchase your weekend passes in advance, both shows for just $15, online or hard copy prior to the show date. Request for BBS Newsletter Materials

ATTENTION WRITERS, ARTISTS, PHOTOGRAPHERS, MUSICIANS & ALL INTERESTED PARTIES.

The Blues Society is planning to print a newsletter, like the ones we did in the early years of the club. We need articles, drawings, photos, and anything else that would help make it interesting. Musicians might want to send a short history and bio of their group. CD reviews, historical perspectives, anything that pertains to blues and especially to Boise blues will be considered. Send your items or questions to norman@radiothrills.com and watch for the new edition of News of the Blues, coming sometime this Fall or Winter. We want to sell a few print ads to pay for this periodical and can use some help in that department, too.

BBS Membership: We Want You!

We hope you will consider supporting the Boise Blues Society to help with out scholarship opportunities for young blues musicians.

This  year, 3 scholarships were awarded for a total of $1500. A number of these scholarships have been awarded in past years to appreciative young men and women in Boise  area middle and high schools.

Additionally, free “Blues In The Schools” programs on the history of the blues, with live musical performances, are offered each year to elementary, middle and high schools by members of BBS. Your membership helps promote a continued appreciation of the blues and encourages our young people to develop interests in music in general.

And finally, your membership dues help us bring high quality blues musicians into Boise for amazing shows. Please consider joining us in our promotion of blues music in Boise. Members receive discounted tickets to BBS sponsored shows. Annual memberships run from January 1 to December 31 each year with fees of only $15 for an individual and $20 for families. Join online with your smartphone, tablet or computer by selecting “Join Us”at:

https://boisebluessociety.wildapricot.org

We also want volunteers to help at our shows. If  you’re interested, email us and let us know. You DO NOT have to be a BBS member to volunteer, just a person who loves blues music and likes to have fun.
