We’ve just created a new group – “Friends of Boise Blues Society” – on Facebook.

This is different from our Facebook page, in that everyone can join and post blues-related events, news, videos, and more! Once you join the group, you can invite your friends in the “add member” box. Pin the group to your personal shortcuts (via menu at top) so you can find it easily. This is a special group for you, our friends and fans! Communicate and share with other blues lovers!

Blues on the Banks 2018, Caldwell, August 3-4

This year’s 21st annual Blues on the Banks comes to Caldwell, Friday and Saturday, August 3-4. It promises to be another great blues weekend headlined by a talented long-time touring blues icon. This year’s headliner is Scott Ellison, talented singer-songwriter, guitarist, and blues-rocker from Tulsa. Ellison is a veteran of more than 40 years playing the blues professionally, still going strong with some 200 shows a year throughout North America.

The event will feature 2 nights of entertainment again this year. Popular local blues band, Jake Leg, will open Saturday’s show at 6:30pm, and Ellison will headline immediately after. Jake Leg will also play Friday night, Aug 3, 8-10pm. Another local blues band, Deborah Michels Gang, will open Friday night, 7-8pm. Both are all ages shows. 12 and under free. Over 12 will need a ticket. Doors open one hour before show time each night.

The best deal is to purchase your weekend passes in advance, both shows for just $15, online or hard copy prior to the show date. Printed tickets are available at Stewart’s, and at Printcraft, 2614 E Cleveland Blvd, Caldwell. The $15 weekend passes are available online now at

If you can only attend Friday Night’s Show, admission to that show only is $5 cover (cash please) at the door. Saturday’s door price will be $20 (if still available).

Request for BBS Newsletter Materials

The Blues Society is planning to print a newsletter, like the ones we did in the early years of the club. We need articles, drawings, photos, and anything else that would help make it interesting. Musicians might want to send a short history and bio of their group. CD reviews, historical perspectives, anything that pertains to blues and especially to Boise blues will be considered. Send your items or questions to and watch for the new edition of News of the Blues, coming sometime this Fall or Winter. We want to sell a few print ads to pay for this periodical and can use some help in that department, too.
