Blues Music & Rafting Trip on Salmon River August 10-12

Do you like whitewater rafting and blues music? If so, you must be on the first annual “Blues and Rafting on the River”, co-sponsored by Boise Blues Society and H2O Idaho. This event will take place on the Salmon River outside of Riggins, August 10-12 . We’ll meet at H2O Idaho headquarters in Riggins (Big Salmon Rd) on Friday, August 10 at 9am!

Rafting over an amazing 3 days will take us down the river, running rapids, making friends, eating great food provided, and listening to great music each night around the campfire. Music will be provided by artists from BBS member bands Jake Leg, SUDA, and Zack Quintana.

You need only bring your clothes, sunscreen, favorite adult beverages, and love for the blues. H2O Idaho will provide everything else from tents to sleeping bags, food, guides, boats and gear.  Join us August 10-12 for an amazing trip and great music.

Boise Blues Society members: $650.  General Public: $750
If you’re not a BBS member, it’s only $15 a year for individual or $20 for family membership. You can join BBS now and save a hundred dollars on the trip fee. A no-brainer it would seem!

Now On Sale! BBS 25th Year CD “Blues Gems From The Gem State”

Boise Blues Society celebrates 25 years of bringing the blues to Boise and Treasure Valley with the release of a new CD compilation, “Blues Gems from the Gem State”. The album features 18 tracks, one each by a different Treasure Valley blues band or artist. It’s produced by BBS co-founder and KRBX Radio Boise Juke Joint host Norman Davis.

All the artists donated their music to the fundraising project. Proceeds from the album go to support the non-profit work of Boise Blues Society, including its popular Blues in the Schools program, which is offered free-of-charge to area schools to promote and educate about the blues, and youth scholarship program which offers financial support for young musicians to further their music education.

Blues In the Schools Needs Your Support!

DID YOU KNOW? Boise Blues Society (BBS) is a non-profit organization with a mission of promoting blues music through a wonderful program called Blues In the Schools (BITS).
Its part of a nationwide program involving dozens of blues societies  and is especially important now because funding for music programs in public schools seem to be a priority target for budget cuts.
We’ve also presented BBS Student Scholarships to several outstanding young musicians in the Treasure Valley.
If you’re a member of BBS, thank you. If you’re not, please join us and help support our cause.
