“among the very best in the world … one of the most innovative and creative harp blowers around” ~Blues Blast Magazine
Jason Ricci and The Bad Kind (his latest band) will play a pair of shows at Playhouse Boise, Thursday and Friday, July 27-28. Separate tickets are now available for each show. Doors at 6:30pm both nights, with shows getting started at 7:30. Presented by Radio Boise hosts Norman Davis and Mojo Mike of the Monday night Blues Block. Food and drink available. All ages welcome.
Norman Davis, co-founder of Boise Blues Society way back in 1992 and present-day host of Juke Joint on Radio Boise KRBX, calls Jason Ricci the greatest living harmonica player. Pretty high praise by one who has known his share of blues harp players over the years! Norman was around back in mid-90s Boise when Jason got his start here as a blues artist, and now he’s helping bring him back for this pair of shows that will surely be knockouts!
Boise Blues Society celebrates 25 years of bringing the blues to Boise and Treasure Valley with the release of a new CD compilation, “Blues Gems from the Gem State”. The album features 18 tracks, one each by a different Treasure Valley blues band or artist. It’s produced by BBS co-founder and KRBX Radio Boise Juke Joint host Norman Davis.
All the artists donated their music to the fundraising project. Proceeds from the album go to support the non-profit work of Boise Blues Society, including its popular Blues in the Schools program, which is offered free-of-charge to area schools to promote and educate about the blues, and youth scholarship program which offers financial support for young musicians to further their music education.
In addition to the 18 tracks by the following artists, there’s also a download link for a bonus extended length 19th track of an additional John Nemeth song. The album is available at The Record Exchange and at Boise Blues Society shows and other events ($15).
