Terry Hanck proves that sax and soul are still all the rage. He won the 2016 Blues Music Award for Best Horn. In 2014 he won the International Songwriting Competition in the Blues Category and in 2012 swept both the Blues Music Awards and the Living Blues Award for Best Horn. He was in the great Elvin Bishop band for ten years, and has fronted his own band for 28 years.

Boise Blues Society celebrates 25 years of bringing the blues to Boise and Treasure Valley with the release of a new CD compilation, “Blues Gems from the Gem State”. The album features 18 tracks, one each by a different Treasure Valley blues band or artist. It’s produced by BBS co-founder and KRBX Radio Boise Juke Joint host Norman Davis.
All the artists donated their music to the fundraising project. Proceeds from the album go to support the non-profit work of Boise Blues Society, including its popular Blues in the Schools program, which is offered free-of-charge to area schools to promote and educate about the blues, and youth scholarship program which offers financial support for young musicians to further their music education.
DID YOU KNOW? Boise Blues Society (BBS) is a non-profit organization with a mission of promoting blues music through a wonderful program called Blues In the Schools (BITS).
Its part of a nationwide program involving dozens of blues societies and is especially important now because funding for music programs in public schools seem to be a priority target for budget cuts.
We’ve also presented BBS Student Scholarships to several outstanding young musicians in the Treasure Valley.
If you’re a member of BBS, thank you. If you’re not, please join us and help support our cause. . Contact BBS President Ken Harris at firstname.lastname@example.org or 208-440-4590. For more info: http://boiseblues.org/education/blues-schools-bits/
