The BBS, in partnership with the Riverside Hotel, has established two Scholarship funds for the Boise State University Music department. The first is a Current-Use Fund that will provide deserving students with scholarships beginning in 2019. The second is a long-term Endowment within the BSU Foundation that will ensure that scholarship money is available in perpetuity.

Both these funds will enable the Boise State University music department to attract talented music students regionally and nationally. The department competes nationally for music students and in order to be competitive, it needs the necessary funding for scholarships. The BBS and Riverside hotel are excited about this opportunity to help the Boise State Music department and to further our outreach to promote the Blues art form.

The Boise Blues Society’s (BBS) major objective is to preserve, promote and educate people about the blues, an indigenous music of the US. To assure blues music stays alive, the BBS educates students at all grade levels the importance of the blues and how it has impacted various music genres throughout the world. The “Blues in the Schools’ program (BITs) teaches the history of the origin of blues and the instruments normally used in playing the blues throughout southern Idaho.
